Installation takes about 2 minutes
1
Run the downloaded file: PrivilegeProtector-Setup-1.0.0.exe
2
If Windows shows a blue security warning, click More info then Run anyway. This happens because the installer is new software — it is safe to proceed.
3
Follow the installation wizard. No administrator password is needed — the app installs to your personal user folder.
4
After installation, Privilege Protector appears as an icon in your system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen, near the clock). On Windows 11, you may need to click the ^ chevron to see it.
5
Right-click the tray icon and select Settings to enter your license key and set up your OpenRouter API key. The setup wizard walks you through each step.
Antivirus warning? Some antivirus programs flag Privilege Protector because it runs a local service to intercept and protect your AI prompts before they leave your machine. This is expected behavior and the software is safe. If your antivirus blocks the installation, add an exception or
use the support assistant — it can walk you through the steps for your specific antivirus product.
